We want you to understand who we are and how the pieces fit together before you rely on anything you read here. This page sets out the relationship between our information and the treatment service we connect you to, in plain terms, so you can weigh what we say with clear eyes.
We are one offering, and we say so
The website you are reading and the treatment service behind it, whether you reach it as a clinic, an app or an online start, are part of the same GLP1 Weight Loss offering. We are not an independent review site that happens to point at itself. When we describe the treatment pathway, we are describing our own service. Knowing that helps you read us fairly.
How treatment decisions are made
A registered doctor decides whether GLP-1 medication suits you. Those decisions are made independently, on clinical grounds, by doctors registered with the HPCSA. Suitability is never guaranteed. A doctor may decide this class of treatment is not right for you, may adjust the dose, or may decide it is not suitable for you. Nobody at GLP1 Weight Loss can override that clinical judgement, and the fact that you reached us through this website changes nothing about it.
The medicines we point to
We steer people only towards SAHPRA-registered medicines, dispensed by licensed pharmacies. We do not source or promote unregistered products, compounded copies, or anything bought without proper doctor's oversight. If a medicine is not approved by SAHPRA for use in South Africa, you will not find us recommending it.
Being connected costs you nothing extra
When the website hands you over to the treatment service, that step adds no cost to you. There is no separate referral fee, and the price you are quoted in Rand is not marked up because you came through our pages. What you pay covers the consultation, the medication and the care around it, and it is set out to you before you commit. Cover through your medical aid depends on your plan and your circumstances, and we will be straight with you about that.
Editorial and commercial are kept separate
We have a commercial interest in people choosing treatment, and we would rather admit that than hide it. It does not shape how we cover the hard parts. Our writing on side effects, on costs, and on who this treatment is not for is kept separate from the commercial side of the business. Results vary from person to person. Trial averages run from roughly 8% to over 20% of body weight, depending on the medication and the dose. Some people are not suitable at all, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2. We will not soften those facts to make a sale.
General information, not medical advice
Everything on this website is general information and not medical advice. It cannot account for your history, your other medicines or your goals. A registered doctor is the one who decides what suits you as an individual. If anything here raises a question about your health, take it to them.
